Le Hibou : a Classy Brunch with Family (Paris 75006)

Situated in the middle of the Carrefour at Odeon, with its cozy heated terrace covered in green plaids and English wool, Le Hibou (the Owl) is certainly an eye-catcher. A stop for tea or brunch with the kids at this ultra chic spot is a must, with decor that blends a London pub with a Victorian mansion and cuisine that is 100% French.

The Decor
In the beating heart of the 6th arrondissement, within walking distance of Saint-Sulpice church and the Odeon cinemas, Le Hibou is the perfect refuge if you’re looking for a toasty fireplace and country house feel. Under glowing chandeliers and candlelight, stuffed birds and collections of family portraits adorn the dark, wood-panelled walls and re-upholstered furniture. On the first floor, the atmosphere is rich and warm, like a good brandy, with club chairs tucked beneath the bar. You may have to search to discover two dining-rooms with their long wooden tables. Displayed on the mantelpiece are dimly lit Flemish paintings, making one feel like a guest of honor at the Duke of Buckingham’s hunting lodge.

The Food
On the brunch menu? Scrambled eggs with smoked bacon, ham from Maison Conquet, croissants and sliced bread, fresh yogurt or jam with toast.

For Kids
The dining rooms – on the ground and first floors – are spacious, and there is so much space between tables you’ll never have to worry about disturbing your neighbor with a stroller. The restaurant has two high chairs and chopped steak-frites for the kids. Just be careful on the stairs.

We love…
…The private, upstairs dining room, perfect for a festive and relaxing Sunday brunch that will delight all generations. We also love the refined details of this restaurant’s decor, like the charming old tiles that adorn its bar and restrooms.
