Rose Bakery in the Bon Marché

The legendary teas and scones of Rose Bakery are a treat for any family in the Bon Marché. In a much more spacious and calmer location than their spot on la Rue des Martyrs we go for lunch in between purchases in the women’s or kids section to have a gourmet snack in the chicest store in Paris.

The D
écor
True to the French-British culture, the Rose Bakery Tea Room in the Bon Marché hires only young British servers clad in black aprons and starched shirts who provide friendly service. It is easy to forget the time and the shopping frenzy happening just outside while inside the ultra chic décor, made cozy by large banquette cushions and graphics that compliment the Rue de Sevres rotunda which the spot overlooks.

The Food
Even the pickiest scone enthusiasts will be happy to find that at Rose Bakery this delicious hallmark English sweet is served warm with a mini jar of cream and strawberry jam. At the counter, it is hard to choose between the brownies, cakes of the day, lemon meringue pie, or fig pudding. Though Rose Bakery is renowned for its sweets, their lunch and breakfast are similarly extraordinary: organic smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, shepherd’s pie with green salad, fillet of sea bream with quinoa salad and peas or delicious vegetable quiches, all of which go well with their delicious “green juice:” a fresh-squeezed mixture of avocado, spinach, green apple and cucumber.

For Kids
Strollers will find refuge here among the peace and quiet, while you enjoy snack time with the kids or a lunch with other moms. There are no high chairs or children’s menu, but hungry little ones will sit on the bench and be satisfied with fresh pastries and artisanal hot chocolate.

We Love…
…to take a break to enjoy a cup of tea and read a magazine in the slick interior and then leave with a jar of homemade jam.
