Le Bichat : an organic, family-friendly canteen for a fuss-free lunch

The latest addition to this neighborhood bustling with hipsters and “bobo” families : Le Bichat is two steps from Canal Saint-Martin and is an organic cafe where all the food is homemade with local and seasonal produceat a reasonable price. Kids are welcomed with a smile and will nestle in among the soft cushions on the mezzanine where they can have a picnic style lunch.

The Décor
Behind the glass exterior, Le Bichat is the neighborhood canteen and very popular among locals. The décor is simple and bright, showcasing rows of high, raw wood tables and colorful chandeliers by l’Atelier Morse which bring a joyful and graphic touch. The special secret ? The mezzanine, where a select few (there are only three tables) can enjoy lunch while sitting comfortably on poofs.

The Food
Simplicity and flavor are the hallmarks of this spot, cooking up organic, healthy bowls which are satisfying and balanced combinations of rice, vegetables, and salads with a choice of meat or egg. Smaller appetites order from the children’s menu- which still offers a hearty portion. After your meal, you will not be disappointed by the choice of seasonal soups or homemade desserts (gluten free chocolate cake, sweet orange pudding, banana cake).

For Kids
The mezzanine, with cushions and ottomans, delights the younger guests who can sit on the floor while enjoying their organic bowl before focusing on the available coloring, comic books, and crayons. This spot is best for children two and older, because there is no place for strollers and the rest of the room is not suitable for smaller children. The owner is expected to be installing a changing table in the bathrooms soon. Overall, this is a luxury area for the little ones.

We Love…
… that Le Bichat is open seven days a week so it is easy to visit during off-peak hours and even hope for a spot on the mezzanine. The atmosphere is absolutely family-friendly: The Bichat was created to fill the need for a good organic eat in the area and families are welcomed with smiles and warmth.
